The Gospel choir “The Voice of The Spirit” was created in November 2006 with, as a first objective, making known the values of the Gospel culture in the towns of the Northern Isère basin in France. Indeed, in the year 2000, Mrs. Dimina living in isle d’ abeau since 1996 (a town in France) noted that Gospel was non- existent in the town and worse, most people did not know what Gospel was unless humming the traditional “Happy Day”. It is at that time that she heard reactions of the type “Ah is it that Gospel? Ah yes, I like it very much ". On the basis of this observation, she decided to set up a Gospel choir with the main objective of promoting Gospel culture initially in the towns of the Northern Isère basin through the music, the songs but also the values that Gospel conveys. These values are respect, love, assistance, mutual aid, generosity, sharing how to live together inter culturally and all things resembling them. The direction of this choir was entrusted to Willy Costille who was already responsible for Gospel with the Institute of Sacred music of Lyon. For two years, Willy Costille directed the choir prior to going back to Guyana. Before leaving, he entrusted his direction to a talented young musician called Johana George accompanied on piano by Paul Wilfrid. Today, the choir consists of very many services and the main objective is achieved. Our other objective is to reach young people. The fundamental message of Gospel does not change but the expression of this message has very much evolved. Far from being a sad, old-fashioned music which is sung only in dark churches, Gospel is the liveliest of music and conveys messages of peace, love and joy. Gospel can be sung to any kind of music. It can be sung to hip hop, soul, funk, jazz and even on rock'n'roll and rap.......
Since its creation The Gospel choir has performed in many occasions and in many cities
